The Buddhist Circuit connecting Nepal and India covers the four most sacred sites of the Buddha's life – Lumbini (birth), Bodh Gaya (enlightenment), Sarnath (first teaching) and Kushinagar (final passing) – in a single pilgrimage journey through the heartland of Buddhism's origin. For Buddhist pilgrims this circuit represents one of the most significant available journeys; for culturally curious travellers it provides extraordinary access to living Buddhist sacred tradition and India's finest Buddhist archaeological sites.
The programme begins in Kathmandu for Nepal's Buddhist heritage (Boudhanath, Swayambhunath, Kopan Monastery) before driving to Lumbini for 2–3 days at the birthplace of the Buddha. The India section crosses from Lumbini to Gorakhpur and continues to Varanasi (near Sarnath), Bodh Gaya (where the Buddha attained enlightenment under the Bodhi Tree), Kushinagar (where the Buddha passed away) and Sravasti (where the Buddha spent many monsoon retreats). Return to Nepal via Patna airport or overland. Visa arrangements for both Nepal and India are included in all our Buddhist circuit packages.
Meet our representative at the airport who will transfer you to the Hotel. Hotel checking-in and go for sightseeing tour. Overnight in Delhi.
After breakfast, your guide will meet you in your hotel. Full day city tour around Raj Ghat, Shanti Vana {the cremation sites of Gandhi and Nehru, Jama Masjid, Red fort, and Chandni Chwok. After luch will continue our city tour to OutubMinar, Humayun’s Tomb, India Gate {war memorial Arch}, President’s house, Parliament house, and temples around. Overnight in Delhi.
After breakfast in Delhi we will continue our drive to Jaipur, Free time in Jaipur. Overnight at hotel.
We will start our day with the Elephant ride at Amer Fort, the city tour covering - Hawa Mahal, Royal Observatory, City Palace, Nawab Sahab Ki Haveli and Johari Market. Overnight in Jaipur.
After our breakfast in Jaipur we will drive to Agra en-route visiting the old deserted town of Mughal Dynasty. Before visiting Taj Mahal we will check in our hotel and after refreshment in the afternoon city tour covering Taj Mahal, Red Fortand the Tomb of Itmad-ud-daula’s Tomb Overnight at hotel.
Breakfast and free until your flight schedule to Varanasi. Arrive in Varanasi check in hotel, afternoon city tour of Sarnath: famous for its Dhamekh Stupa and for it being the place where Buddha preached his first sermon enshrining the principle of his teachings into laws.
Boat ride at River Ganges, followed by a city tour covering - Vishwanath Temple, Bharat Mata Temple etc. Overnight in Varanasi.
After breakfast we will drive to Bodhgaya about 3 and half hour drive from Varanasi. We will stay 2 Nights. Within 2 days we will explore Rajgir, Naland, Sapta pari cave, and veneyemas. Overnight in Bodhgaya
Rajgir: an important Buddhist pilgrimage since the Buddha spent 12 years here, and the first Buddhist council after the Buddha attained Nirvana was held here. Overnight in Bodhgaya
After breakfast drive to Vaishali, a very special place to Buddhists. The Lord delivered his last sermon & announce his impending " Nirwana". See the majesty of Ashok Pillar – Lotus tank, Chaumukhi & after exploring Vaishali we will continue our drive to Kushinagar. Overnight at Kushinagar.
Today we are entering another beautiful country Nepal (the birth place of Lord Buddha) Morning visit Mahanirvana Temple, the modern Japan, Srilanka Buddhist center & monasteries , then proceed to Lumbini. Overnight in Lumbini.
Early Morning after breakfast we will visit to Ashoka’s pillar (249 BC) rediscovered in 1890’s inside thick sal forest, a temple of Mayadevi, the ruins of an old monastery and some new stupas after our visit in Lumbini we will fly to Kathmandu (the capital of Nepal). Overnight at Kathmandu hotel.
After our breakfast we will proceed our sightseeing to the major places around Kathmandu, Swoyambhunath stupa, Boudhanath stupa, Pharping Monastery, and Patan durbar square. Evening Farewell dinner in Local restaurant with nepali dance and cuisine. Overnight in Kathmandu
Today you will be free for your own activities like shopping. Afternoon we will drop you at the Kathmandu Airport end of the package.
