For trekkers who want their Nepal adventure to include a meaningful community contribution, our Nepal Trek with Teaching Project combines a multi-day Himalayan trek with a structured teaching visit at a community school in or near the trekking region. The most natural combinations are the Annapurna foothills – where Gurung and Magar village schools are accessible within the first days of the trek – and the Langtang region where Tamang community schools along the Heritage Trail welcome visitor contributions.
The teaching project component (1–3 days) is integrated into the early or mid-section of the trek itinerary before altitude becomes a significant factor. English conversation, basic science demonstrations and craft activities are the most suitable contribution types for short-term visitors. The trekking component proceeds as a standard guided teahouse trek with all standard logistics included. This combination is particularly popular with school and university student trekking groups where educational contribution aligns naturally with the educational development goals of the trip itself. For the trekking component details, see Getaway Nepal's Annapurna trekking guides.
