Nepal has 33 designated trekking peaks – mountains available for guided climbing expeditions without the full expedition permit requirements that 8,000m peaks demand. These peaks range from walk-up summits at 5,500m (suitable for fit trekkers with minimal climbing experience) to technically demanding 6,500m objectives that require genuine mountaineering skills. Our peak climbing packages combine a full acclimatisation trek with the summit attempt, ensuring you arrive at high camp properly prepared rather than altitude-shocked and under-acclimatised.
Island Peak (Imja Tse, 6,189m): Nepal's most climbed trekking peak, combined with the EBC trek. The summit day involves a glacier approach and a 45-60 degree headwall requiring crampons and basic ice axe technique – all taught by our NMA-certified guides during the acclimatisation days. Mera Peak (6,476m): Nepal's highest trekking peak and technically straightforward – a long glacier walk to a summit with views of five 8,000m peaks simultaneously. Lobuche East (6,119m): More technical than Island Peak with exceptional mountain views from the summit. Pisang Peak (6,091m): An excellent Annapurna region peak combining with the Annapurna Circuit approach. Paldor Peak (5,896m): An accessible and undervisited peak in the Ganesh Himal region near Kathmandu.
The peak was named Island Peak in 1951 by Eric Shipton's party since it appears as an island in a sea of ice when viewed from Dingboche. view trip
