The Upper Mustang jeep overland tour follows the gravel road north from Jomsom through the Kali Gandaki gorge to Lo Manthang – Nepal's most dramatic overland journey, covering 120km of extraordinary desert plateau terrain through the ancient walled kingdom in a private 4WD vehicle. The jeep approach makes Upper Mustang accessible to travellers who cannot commit to the 10-day trekking version while delivering the same extraordinary landscape and cultural experience.
The programme flies from Pokhara to Jomsom (20 minutes, daily in season), then continues by private jeep north through Kagbeni, Chele, Syangbochen, Ghami, Tsarang and Lo Manthang. Days at Lo Manthang explore the ancient monasteries (Thubchen, Chode, Jampa and Chodey Lhakhang), the royal palace and the surrounding cave dwellings. A different return route provides variety. The Restricted Area Permit (USD 500 per person for 10 days) is required and included in our package.
