Wheelchair Accessible Nepal Tour

Nepal is more accessible for wheelchair users and mobility-impaired travellers than most people assume. The majority of Kathmandu's UNESCO World Heritage Sites can be visited with a wheelchair-adapted vehicle and a mobility-aware guide who knows the accessible routes and viewing positions at each site. Chitwan National Park's jeep safaris are fully accessible – guests remain in the vehicle throughout. Quality hotels in Kathmandu, Pokhara and Chitwan increasingly have accessible rooms, adapted bathrooms and ground-floor options.

We have been organising accessible Nepal tours for travellers with mobility limitations for many years, and we are honest about what is and isn't accessible in Nepal. Cobbled medieval streets in Bhaktapur's old town are not appropriate for a standard wheelchair – but an electric wheelchair or adapted vehicle can access the main Durbar Square itself. Pashupatinath's ghat area is accessible at the main viewing platform. Boudhanath's circumambulation path is paved and accessible. We design each accessible programme around the specific mobility situation of the traveller rather than applying a generic accessible tour template.

Package Details

Our wheelchair accessible Nepal tour covers Kathmandu heritage sites (3 days), optional Chitwan National Park jeep safari (2-3 days) and Pokhara lakeside (2-3 days). All transport in adapted vehicles, all accommodation selected for accessibility, disability-trained guide throughout, and pre-trip consultation about specific mobility requirements. We can design programmes for any mobility situation from electric wheelchair users to those with limited walking ability who can manage short distances on foot.
