Himalayan Tahr (Hemitragus jemlahicus) hunting in Nepal takes place in the Dhorpatan Hunting Reserve in western Nepal under strict government quota management. The Himalayan Tahr is a large ungulate (males up to 90kg) inhabiting the steep rocky terrain of Nepal's high Himalayan zone, and the physical challenge of accessing tahr habitat – combined with the extraordinary mountain scenery of the hunting environment – makes this one of the world's most spectacular mountain hunting experiences.
Our Himalayan Tahr hunting package follows the same structure as our Blue Sheep programme: 3 nights Kathmandu, 1 night Pokhara, 6 days in the Dhorpatan Reserve hunting area with full camp support, 1 night Pokhara return. Government tahr hunting permit (fees set by Nepal government and subject to annual review), licensed Nepali hunting guide with high-altitude experience, full camp logistics and transportation throughout Nepal included. Trophy export documentation assistance provided. Hunters must be in good physical condition – the terrain demands significant mountain walking at altitude. Contact us for current permit fees and quota availability for the upcoming hunting season.
