Our student group Nepal tours are designed specifically for school, college and university groups seeking a combination of educational depth, cultural immersion, Himalayan adventure and meaningful community contribution in a well-managed programme. The low-altitude Annapurna foothills trek – our standard trekking recommendation for student groups – is accessible for most secondary and university students without exceptional fitness preparation while providing genuine Himalayan trekking character.
The standard student group programme combines: Kathmandu heritage sightseeing (UNESCO sites with educational briefing on Nepal's cultural and historical context), Chitwan National Park wildlife safari (with ecology and conservation briefing from park naturalists), a 5–7 day guided Annapurna foothills trek (Poon Hill or Ghandruk circuit, suitable for all fitness levels), a school visit and community engagement component in a rural village, and Pokhara adventure activities (paragliding, kayaking or gentle Annapurna hill walking). Educational materials specific to the group's curriculum focus are included. We work with trip leaders to integrate the Nepal programme with classroom learning both before and after the trip. Group size 10–50 students; teacher/student ratios as per your school's requirements. See also Getaway Nepal's student trekking programmes.

After breakfast we transfer to Kathmandu’s domestic terminal to take our flight to Pokhara (827m), the main gateway for trekkers into the Annapurna region. This is one of the most scenic flights in the Himalaya, as we trace the backbone of the monstrous Ganesh, Manaslu and Annapurna ranges. The flight path heads west up and over the rim of the Kathmandu Valley along the Trisuli River to Pokhara, Nepal’s second largest town. Once we have arrived in Pokhara we take a 2.5 hour drive to Nayapul and commence our trek to Syauli Bazaar (1100m). This is a very gentle walk along an often busy trail which follows the Modi River, past tea houses and villages. Villagers greet us with “Namaste”, the traditional Nepalese greeting, as we pass their homes and continue to your camp for the night. Walk approximately 1.50 hours. Meals: B,L,D
Todays trek to the facinating Gurung village of Ghandruk should be taken slowly and steadily as there are some big energy sapping up hills to tackle, welcome to the Himalayas! It is a beautiful walk and one which gets better as the day progresses. After lunch we walk through neat Gurung villages and along well-worn trails busy with local people going about their lives. Life is simple and has not changed much over the centuries. As you gain height the views keep improving till once you reach camp you see the beautiful peaks of Annapurna South and Machapuchare. Walk approximately 6-7 hours. Meals: B,L,D

The trail meanders downhill through fields and into the forest of rhododendron and magnolia. We pass by waterfalls that cascade down narrow gullies that provide the perfect home for many small ferns and delicate plants. Ulleri is a clearing with more spectacular views of Annapurna South and Hinchuli. Walk approximately 3-4 hours. Meals: B,L,D
After absorbing even more spectacular views of Annapurna South and breakfast we head down the Modi Khola valley along a secluded village trail that is rarely followed by other trekking groups. After lunch at the scenic village of Dansing we complete a short, steep descent to the village of Birethanti along the Modi Khola. We cross a substantial bridge before making our way to the bustling bazaar of Nayapul. Here we are picked up and transferred back to Pokhara by private vehicle to our permanent campsite.
