The Meet Happy Farmers of Kathmandu Valley tour is a specially designed day programme that connects visitors directly with the farming families who have cultivated the valley's fertile land for generations. The programme goes beyond the standard farm visit to create genuine human encounters with the people behind Nepal's food system – people whose organic farming practices, community sharing traditions and connection to the seasonal agricultural cycle represent a way of life that is under increasing pressure from urbanisation but still very much alive in the valley's villages.
The day includes: morning drive to a selected farming village (Khokana – famous for its mustard oil production – or Kirtipur or Godavari area), guided introduction to the farming family and their land by a local community guide who translates the farmers' explanations of their practices, hands-on participation in whatever seasonal activity is underway (planting, harvesting, processing, weeding), a traditional farm lunch prepared by the family using their own produce, and an afternoon at a second farming household with a different crop focus. The tour provides direct income to the farming families visited; no middleman takes a percentage of the farm fee.
