Mountain biking on the Annapurna Circuit is Nepal's – and arguably Asia's – greatest cycling adventure. The route circumnavigates the entire Annapurna massif from the subtropical Marsyangdi Valley through rhododendron forests, Tibetan-influenced high-altitude communities and the arid Mustang plateau, crossing the Thorong La Pass (5,416m) on one of the most dramatic high-altitude cycling challenges available anywhere. The ecological and cultural transitions along the route are extraordinary: subtropical forest below 2,000m transitions through oak and rhododendron forest to the bare high-altitude landscape of upper Manang and the traditional stone villages of the Kali Gandaki gorge.
Our Annapurna Circuit mountain biking programme runs 14–18 days (depending on the pace and options chosen) starting from Besisahar and finishing in Pokhara. The Thorong La Pass section can be walked or ridden depending on conditions and individual fitness. Support vehicle carries luggage throughout; premium teahouse accommodation at each stop. All meals, ACAP permit, TIMS card, bike hire (quality hardtail or full-suspension options) and experienced cycling guide included. Best season: October–November and March–May.
