Chitwan National Park is Nepal's greatest wildlife destination – a 952km² protected area in the subtropical Terai that is home to one of Asia's most significant populations of Bengal tigers and one-horned rhinoceroses. The park's combination of dense sal forest, open grassland and the Rapti and Narayani river systems creates habitat diversity that supports extraordinary wildlife density. Our 3-day Chitwan safari is the most popular wildlife experience in Nepal and consistently delivers rhino sightings, multiple bird species and, for lucky visitors, tiger encounters in genuinely wild conditions.
Jeep safari: Morning and afternoon game drives in open jeeps through the core park zones with a licensed naturalist guide. Rhino sightings are extremely reliable. Tiger encounters are possible on every drive. We access the best habitat within the park at the optimal times of day for wildlife activity. Canoe trip on the Rapti River: Floating quietly downstream past gharial crocodiles sunning on the banks, marsh mugger crocodiles and exceptional birdlife on the river margins – one of the finest 90-minute wildlife experiences in Nepal. Jungle walk with park ranger: Walking through the forest on foot with an experienced armed park ranger is the most intimate way to experience Chitwan's ecosystem. The difference in perspective between a vehicle and being on foot in tiger country is extraordinary. Elephant area visit: Meet Chitwan's working elephants at the park's elephant breeding centre without riding them – a responsible wildlife tourism approach that still provides a remarkable encounter with these magnificent animals.
