The Langtang Valley is the closest major Himalayan trekking region to Kathmandu – just 60km north as the helicopter flies. Landing options include the grassy meadows above Kyanjin Gompa (3,830m) with 15–20 minutes on the ground for mountain views and photography.
The Langtang helicopter tour is excellent for travellers who want the Langtang Himalayan experience without the 3-hour road journey to Syabrubesi and the subsequent 2-day trek to Kyanjin Gompa. The aerial perspective of the Langtang Valley from above – the gorge widening into the broad Kyanjin basin with the Langtang Lirung glacier dominating the northern skyline – is distinctly different from the trekking perspective and provides an extraordinary visual overview of the region's geography.
