Nepal is the world's only officially Hindu kingdom (until 2008 when it became a secular republic) and retains one of the richest concentrations of Hindu sacred sites in the world. For Hindu pilgrims, a Nepal pilgrimage offers access to sacred sites of national and Pan-Hindu significance.
Our Hindu pilgrimage tour covers: Pashupatinath Temple, Kathmandu – Nepal's holiest temple and one of the world's most important Shiva sites. The complex includes the famous cremation ghats on the Bagmati River and dozens of subsidiary shrines. Muktinath Temple (3,800m), Mustang – the "place of liberation" where an eternal flame fuelled by natural gas burns beside a sacred spring, sacred to Vishnu and simultaneously to Buddhists. Accessible by domestic flight to Jomsom and jeep. Janakpur – the birthplace of Sita and the site of her marriage to Rama, marked by the magnificent Janaki Mandir temple. Gosaikunda (4,380m) – sacred Shiva lake in the Langtang region. Changu Narayan – the oldest Vishnu temple in the valley (4th century AD). Our complete pilgrimage tour programme can be extended to include all major sacred sites across Nepal.
