The Everest Base Camp expedition for student groups is the ultimate Himalayan challenge programme for young travellers – a 16-day guided journey to Everest Base Camp (5,364m) and Kala Patthar (5,545m), the highest point accessible without technical climbing, combined with Sherpa cultural education in the Khumbu and structured educational content covering Himalayan geology, mountain ecology, high-altitude physiology and the history of Everest exploration.
The student EBC programme requires good baseline fitness from all participants (ability to walk 6–8 hours per day for consecutive days at altitude) and minimum age of 16 years. Our licensed senior Khumbu guides have specific experience managing student groups at altitude and are trained in altitude sickness recognition and management. Proper acclimatisation is built into the itinerary with two rest days (Namche Bazaar and Dingboche) and daily health monitoring by the guide. Travel insurance with helicopter evacuation is mandatory for all participants. Post-expedition educational resources and debrief materials provided for classroom follow-up. For the complete EBC trekking route, see Getaway Nepal's EBC Trek. Duration: 16 days including Kathmandu days. Group size: 10–25 students.
