Tamu Lhosar Festival Tour – Gurung New Year

Tamu Lhosar is the Gurung New Year – the most important festival of the Gurung (Tamu) people, one of Nepal's largest and most celebrated ethnic groups. Falling in December–January (Poush Shukla Pratipada of the Nepali calendar), Tamu Lhosar is celebrated with traditional music and dance performances, community feasts, the wearing of traditional Gurung dress and the gathering of Gurung families across Nepal for the new year blessing. In Kathmandu and Pokhara, large public celebrations bring the Gurung community together with performances visible to all.

Our Tamu Lhosar tour combines the Kathmandu celebration – typically centred on the Tundikhel grounds with large public dance and music performances – with a visit to the Annapurna foothills Gurung villages where the festival is celebrated in its most traditional community form. Duration: 5 days including Kathmandu heritage sightseeing and a 2-day Pokhara and Gurung village component. Exact dates change annually. Includes: private guide with Gurung cultural expertise, all transport, accommodation and entry fees.

Day to Day Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Nepal.
Welcome to Kathmandu Valley (1360m). Upon Your arrival we assist you from airport tour hotel. Enjoy welcome programs and culture dance at evening. Overnight at hotel.

Day 2: Kathmandu Sightseeing Tourn
Full day sightseeing around Kathmandu valley. Visit famous Pashupatinath, Symanbhunath, and Basantapur Durbar Square etc. overnight at hotel.

Day 3: Enjoy Festival.
Enjoy Tamu lhosar Festival in Kathmandu. Overnight at hotel.

Day 4: Free day for relaxation.
Breakfast in the hotel and you will have free time for relaxation. Overnight at hotel.

Day 5: Departure from Nepal.
Half day shopping and city exploration and then final departure. Farewell!!
