Teej Festival Tour

Teej is Nepal's most visually spectacular Hindu women's festival – a 3-day celebration in August–September (Bhadra Shukla Tritiya) in which Hindu women dress in red saris and gather at Pashupatinath Temple and temples throughout Kathmandu in their thousands for ritual bathing, fasting and prayer for the health and long life of their husbands (and, for unmarried women, for a good husband). The processions of women in red saris singing and dancing through the streets of Kathmandu in the days before the festival create extraordinary street scenes unlike any other time in the Nepali calendar.

Our Teej tour positions visitors at Pashupatinath Temple on the morning of Teej when hundreds of thousands of women gather for ritual bathing in the Bagmati River – one of the most visually extraordinary gatherings in Nepal. The pre-Teej street celebrations (Dar Khane, the feast day before fasting begins) and the post-Teej Rishi Panchami ritual bathing at the Bagmati are also covered in the programme. Duration: 5 days including Kathmandu heritage sightseeing. Exact dates change annually. Includes: private cultural guide, all transport, accommodation and all entry fees.

Day to Day Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Nepal.
Welcome to Kathmandu Valley (1360m). Upon Your arrival we assist you from airport tour hotel. Enjoy welcome programs and culture dance at evening. Overnight at hotel.

Day 2: Kathmandu Sightseeing Tourn
Full day sightseeing around Kathmandu valley. Visit famous Pashupatinath, Symanbhunath, and Basantapur Durbar Square etc. overnight at hotel.

Day 3: Enjoy Festival.
Enjoy Teej Festival in Kathmandu. Overnight at hotel.

Day 4: Free day for relaxation.
Breakfast in the hotel and you will have free time for relaxation. Overnight at hotel.

Day 5: Departure from Nepal.
Half day shopping and city exploration and then final departure. Farewell!!
