Tihar Festival Tour – Festival of Lights Nepal

Tihar – the five-day Festival of Lights – is Nepal's second most important Hindu festival and its most visually beautiful. Over five consecutive days in October–November, each sacred to a different being: the first day honours crows (Kag Tihar), the second day dogs (Kukur Tihar), the third day cows and Laxmi the goddess of wealth (Laxmi Puja), the fourth day oxen and a personal new year celebration (Mha Puja for Newaris), and the fifth day the bond between brothers and sisters (Bhai Tika). The Laxmi Puja evening transforms every house in Nepal into a small lamp display – oil lamps and marigold garlands line every windowsill and doorstep in a nationwide illumination that makes Tihar the most atmospheric evening of Nepal's festival year.

Our Tihar tour immerses visitors in all five days with specialist guide accompaniment: morning dog garland ceremony viewing, Laxmi Puja oil lamp lighting at a Newari family home by invitation, Mha Puja ceremony at the Patan community level and Bhai Tika family blessing ceremony observation. Kathmandu and Bhaktapur heritage sightseeing provides cultural context throughout. Duration: 5 days. Day to Day Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Nepal.
Welcome to Kathmandu Valley (1360m). Upon Your arrival we assist you from airport tour hotel. Enjoy welcome programs and culture dance at evening. Overnight at hotel.

Day 2: Kathmandu Sightseeing Tourn
Full day sightseeing around Kathmandu valley. Visit famous Pashupatinath, Symanbhunath, and Basantapur Durbar Square etc. overnight at hotel.

Day 3 - 7: Enjoy Festival.
Enjoy Tihar/ Deepawoli Festival in Kathmandu. Overnight at hotel.

Day 8: Free day for relaxation.
Breakfast in the hotel and you will have free time for relaxation. Overnight at hotel.

Day 9: Departure from Nepal.
Half day shopping and city exploration and then final departure. Farewell!!
